STATEMENT ON GROWTH MANAGEMENT HEARING BOARD’S
DENIAL OF COMPLIANCE SCHEDULE EXTENSION
Sammamish WA, May 22, 2020
The Growth Management Hearings Board (GMHB) has denied the City of Sammamish’s request for an extension of deadline to complete its Statement of Action in order to ensure compliance with the decision from the GMHB on Don Gerend v. City of Sammamish.
The Statement of Action includes necessary work to bring the City of Sammamish into compliance with the State Environmental Protection Act (SEPA) and the Growth Management Act (GMA).
“This decision means we need to double down on our work to update the Comprehensive Plan, of which SEPA is an essential component,” said the Interim City Manager, David L. Rudat. “The City staff has already begun this critical work, and we have brought in BERK Consulting, Inc. to assist us.”
The GMHB will review the City’s Statement of Actions to comply in mid-November, and if the City is still in the process of compliance, the GMHB will consider next steps.
