A Pop-Up Labyrinth
$1,000
Provide Oasis for Walking the Labyrinth (OWL), a temporary pop-up labyrinth
This project has been developed as a method of building community through the creation of a temporary labyrinth at Sammamish Commons. The method to develop a shared community understanding of the labyrinth and how walking meditation can serve everyone in community, will be by providing three guided labyrinth events over a two-month period. After creating the temporary (tape) labyrinth on the Sammamish Commons, the guided meditation walks will introduce Sammamish residents, along with any other interested participants to the history, context and usage of the labyrinth as a personal tool for walking contemplation, creativity and mindfulness. https://labyrinthsammamish.com/

Hilltop Haiku
$1,100
Provide display haiku poems in highly visible locations for public enjoyment in a program to be called “Hilltop Haiku.”
Provide temporarily display sets of haiku poems at strategic outdoor city roads in Sammamish. Each haiku would be chosen to celebrate life in this city. A single poem could be displayed on a single plastic lawn sign, or each line of a three-line poem could be displayed on a separate sign, such as if placed in trios along a road to be read like a Burma-shave sign, one line at a time. Poems would be placed in approved locations in the city, with the poems being cycled to each of the locations periodically for a specified duration.
