Hi,

My name is Mike Gaffney.  I reside at 566 237th Ave SE, Sammamish (since 1999.)

I am contacting you regarding building permit number BLD2020-01276.

This is a permit which the City issued to my neighbor for a 2 story addition to his home. (661 237th Pl SE)

Our neighbor approached us yesterday for the first time regarding their proposed addition and I am absolutely opposed.

Our homes were originally built too close to each other (in my opinion) and his addition would worsen the situation and adversely impact our property value.

Please reply ASAP regarding this situation.  Specifically, I would like to know…

  1. Does the applicant need our written approval of his proposed addition in order to proceed with construction?
  2. If no approval is required in order for our neighbor to proceed, is there a course of action we can take to stop the project from proceeding?

Hi Avril,

Would it be possible for me to see what my neighbor is proposing?  Ideally the set of plans/revisions that you are reviewing currently?

I searched mybuildingpermit.com and, though I’m able to see the status of my neighbor’s permit application, I’m not able to download the actual files.

Both my neighbor and I are in discussions with our Neighborhood Association but to date I don’t know what exactly my neighbor is proposing.
