The seven-member Planning Commission makes recommendations to the Council on land use ordinances and regulations. The nine-member Parks &amp; Recreation Commission advises the Council and staff on matters relating to planning, acquisition of land, and the development and operation of parks facilities and recreation programs. 

There are two openings on each commission and each term is for 4 years, beginning January 1, 2011. The commissions meeting at least monthly in the evenings at City Hall. 

If you are interested in applying for one of these positions, please fill out the appropriate Application below and submit it, along with a letter of interest and a relevant resume, to the City Clerk no later than November 1. 

For the Planning Commision, you must be a resident of Sammamish to apply. One "Non-Resident" position is available on the Parks &amp; Recreation Commission.  Each applicant will participate in a short, informal interview with the City Council at the November 15, 2010 Study Session. Appointments will be made in December.

What does that mean? It means the city is developing a plan for stewarding the community’s environmental and economic resources so that they endure for future generations. A big part of that plan involves asking residents what they think the priorities should be.
