Corridor Improvements, SE 8th Street to NE 8th Street
244th Project Update (3/5/10)
NORTH END (NEAR NE 8TH ST)
Girder installation is complete on the bridge. Overhead utility relocation will continue at the intersection through March 19th. Wall 5 and Wall 6 work will resume and will have shot-crete and fascia installed. Planting for portions of the wetland restoration near NE 3rd Way will begin the week of March 8.
SOUTH END (SOUTH OF E. MAIN ST.)
The asphalt multi-use sidewalk on the east side will be blocked for several weeks, as the old material is removed. A rain garden and new utilities are installed prior to construction of the new path. Pedestrians will be directed to use the sidewalk on the west side of 244th at these locations.

Understanding the 244th Avenue Improvement Project: 40 KB
This project proposes, in part, to build an 800-foot connection between existing segments of 244th Avenue. The project, which will also improve the existing segments of 244th Avenue, will stretch from SE Eighth Street to NE Eighth Street. The new, 800-foot roadway will be built just west of Allen Lake.
The planned improvements will bring 244th Avenue up to the standards of a minor arterial, the most notable addition being a landscaped median island/turn lane. Additionally, the intersections at NE 8th Street and E. Main Street will be modified to incorporate roundabouts.
