Project Background

In 2006, in partnership with the Lake Washington School District (LWSD), the City converted an existing, underutilized 3-acre grass practice field on the Eastlake High School (EHS) campus into two multi-use sports fields. These fields, also known as Eastlake Community Fields 1 and 2, accommodate baseball, softball, lacrosse, football, and soccer for adult and youth sports leagues, as well as for students at EHS.

Installation of the safety nets (to prevent balls from flying over the fence) between the Eastlake Community Fields and the EHS Football Stadium was originally planned to be included as part of the turf replacement project. In response to concerns from user groups about the safety of spectators and the adjacent facilities, the City and LWSD staff were able to complete this project in 2015.
