The City Manager is selected by the City Council to serve as the professional administrator of the
city of Sammamish and is responsible for coordinating or directing all city operations, projects
and programs and administering all policies and laws adopted by the Council. The City Manager oversees
the preparation and administration of the city budget, develops strong intergovernmental relations,
keeps the Council apprised of the city's financial and operational status, and administers personnel
including the hiring of all department and office heads. The City Manager serves as chief advisor to
the City Council, makes reports and recommendations to the City Council, and ensures implementation of
the City Council's policy.
City Manager Ben Yazici
Mr. Yazici was appointed City Manager January 17, 2001. Before accepting
the position, Mr. Yazici served as Interim City Manager and both Director of Public Works and Finance. With
over 20 years of experience, he was formerly with the City of University Place, serving as both Deputy City
Manager and Public Works Director. He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cukurova,
Turkey in 1981 and his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington in 1988. He is a past President
of both the Rotary Club of Sammamish and the Sammamish Chamber of Commerce.
