Be prepared for traffic delays as construction of the city's East Lake Sammamish Parkway project continues. SCI Infrastructure, the contractor hired for the job, has been directed to achieve "substantial completion" of the project by late September.
The Contractor will be working six days per week. Allowable work hours are from 7 AM to 8 PM weekdays and from 9 AM to 6 PM on Saturdays. Lane closures at the Inglewood Hill Rd intersection may begin as early as 7 AM with an officer directing traffic through the intersection. Both lanes of the parkway will be kept open after 4:00 PM. Since the length of traffic delays is difficult to predict, residents are advised to use alternative routes. Expected delay times are listed below:
- Weekdays before 9:00 AM: Minimal delays, approximately 5 minutes
- Weekdays between 9:00 AM & 4:00 PM: Expect long delays - up to 15 minutes or more
- Saturdays after 9:00 AM: Expect long delays - up to 15 minutes or more
The City's traffic cameras can be useful to assess the amount of congestion along the Parkway:
This project will reconfigure the intersection at Inglewood Hill Road and extend improvements north along the parkway for about 0.4 mile. In addition to accommodating an increasing flow of traffic, the project will also make major safety and environmental improvements. Due to a favorable bidding environment, the construction contract of $6.1 million came in $2.1 million below the engineer's estimate.

Issaquah's Parkway roundabout:
The City of Issaquah is constructing a new roundabout at the intersection of East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE and SE 43rd Way. This work is expected to start in June. This roundabout will improve traffic congestion and safety at the intersection. Completion is expected in late September.
This project is also expected to cause traffic delays along the Parkway. For more information on this project, go to www.ci.issaquah.wa.us/page.asp?navid=1337 or contact Issaquah's Project Manager Todd Christensen.
Parkway rehabilitation in Redmond:
The City of Redmond is rehabilitating the pavement along East Lake Sammamish Parkway NE from 187th Ave NE to just south of NE 65th St. This work is expected to begin in July and finish in October. For more information on this project, go to redmond.gov/insidecityhall/publicworks/construction/seredmond.asp or contact Redmond's Project Manager Joseph O'Leary.
The cities of Issaquah, Redmond, and Sammamish will be coordinating during each of these construction projects.
