Members of the Town Center Committee, Planning Commission, City Council and the community at large took a bus tour of nearby town centers recently to gain some perspective on the challenge of creating a city center in Sammamish. The June 2 trip, which visited Kirkland, Juanita, Mill Creek, Redmond, Mercer Island and the Lakemont section of Bellevue, was deemed a success by Cristina Van Valkenburgh, the city's Town Center project manager.

"It gave everyone something real to look at and generated a broad range of responses," Van Valkenburgh said.

The city followed the bus tour with a well-attended public design workshop on June 24. An Open House featuring preliminary alternatives for the Town Center is scheduled for Thursday, July 13, 4-8 p.m., at the Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District, 1510 228th Ave. S.E.
