Comprehensive Plan Amendments

Release Date: Aug. 30, 2012

Each year the public has the opportunity to suggest amendments to the city’s comprehensive plan and/or development code, specifically for technical updates or corrections, to reclassify land use map designations, or to make other changes exclusive of revisions to policy language. Each submitted amendment must be accompanied by a land use application including appropriate fees. Applications are evaluated for compliance with the Sammamish Municipal Code (SMC), King County Countywide Planning Policies, and the State Growth Management Act (GMA) and forwarded to the planning commission for a recommendation. A final decision is made by the city council. Amendments are also subject to public participation. Applications for comprehensive plan and/or development code amendments are accepted each year from Sept 1 thru Sept 30th. Because the city is preparing a thorough review of the existing comprehensive plan as required by the Growth Management Act some applications submitted may be processed in conjunction with this larger update concluding in the year 2015.
