Once a year, Americans across the country gather for barbecues, block parties and other social events to solidify the neighborly connections that can serve as a barrier to crime. This year, the "National Night Out" event will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 7.
To help kick off the big day, you're invited to visit with the city's police department during the "Safe and Sound Sammamish" event at City Hall. The 2-5 p.m. event will feature police vehicles, displays, food, entertainment and educational activities. Guardian One, the King County Sheriff's Office helicopter, is also expected to make an appearance between 4:30 and 4:35 p.m.
